Dear HAWC Members and Friends, HAWC's 14th Annual Conference—Shameless Self-Promotion: Skills for Success—is just one week away, and there's still time to register! We are excited to gather together once again and offer you a weekend full of interesting panelists and speakers…. all while having some fun and meeting a fantastic group of attendees. (NOTE: A breakdown of weekend events appears below, and in the registration form provided with link above.) To start off the weekend, HAWC will welcome registered conference guests at a Friday, November 2 evening reception in the Wine Room at Olive’s Restaurant, conveniently located just steps away from the Capital Hilton. Then on November 3, we will be honoring former assistant secretary at the U.S. State Department Barbara Spyridon Pope with our annual Aristeon Award. HAWC established the Aristeon Award to honor women like Barbara Pope to recognize and promote women, particularly those who have made significant contributions to society or excelled in their particular fields of endeavor. We are also excited to have with us as our keynote speaker New York Times best-selling author Deborah Tannen, Ph.D. Until recently, Deborah Tannen was best known as the author of You Just Don’t Understand: Women and Men in Conversation, which was on The New York Times Best Seller list for nearly four years, including eight months as No. 1, and has been translated into 29 languages. Her book You’re Wearing THAT?: Understanding Mothers and Daughters in Conversation spent ten weeks on The New York Times Best Seller List. For Saturday’s line-up of morning speakers, panelist Courtney Lynch will provide practical advice on personal leadership skills development that can be used in one's personal and professional life. Hilary Bruggen Fordwich will instruct on how to develop a personal brand that will help build and maintain professional and personal relationships. Since we have a number of published speakers who are invaluable sources of information, HAWC will also be featuring a book signing with Dr. Tannen and Ms. Lynch to give you an opportunity to take home a signed copy of one of their highly praised works. If you have any friends and colleagues who might be interested in attending this highly informative conference, we encourage you to pass along this invitation. Please also note our special student rate of $50 (must present student I.D.). We look forward to seeing you in just a few weeks! Sincerely, HAWC 2007 Conference Committee
Our updated conference schedule includes:
