Hellenic Community of Detroit Celebrates Freedom Print E-mail

April 6. 2008 the Hellenic communities of Greater Detroit, Toledo and Windsor will be

celebrating the regeneration of the Greek Nation as a very important expression of

Hellenism and Orthodoxy. Powerful statement in support of all the values the Hellenes

hold dear. Democracy, Liberty and Freedom, concepts articulated by our legendary

ancestors.

 

Greek Parade highlights:

 

Saturday April 5th. 2008, 6:30 pm at the Royalty House. Pre-parade Banquette

where the Hellenic Heritage Awards will be presented to eight  members of our Hellenic

community, followed by the performance of famous dance group of Evzones and Amalies

from the Holly City of Mesologgi. Greece.

Sunday April 6th, 2008  Begins with a liturgy at the Annunciation Cathedral located

at Detroit's Greektown. The Evzone and Amalies Group will partake in the doxology

service at the Annunciation Cathedral in Detroit's Greektown.

Honorary Grand Marshals, The eight Hellenic Heritage Award Winners.

The Detroit Greek Parade and Celebration will begin at 3:00 pm. on Monroe St. from

Woodward to Greektown. Ceremony And Dance Performance Fallowing Parade.

Dignitaries from federal, state and city governments, the Evzones and Amalies from

Mesologgi,  Fourteen church communities, 12 Hellenic Organizations,  floats, seven

Hellenic dance groups in colorful native costumes and Hellenic student groups from

the three major universities will  take part in the parade.

Join the fun, help us spread the word to all your friends and let everyone be a Hellene for

these two days!!
