2008 Theodore Spyropoulos Scholarship Presented to SJU Student |

The 2008
Theodore Spyropoulos Scholarship was presented to Anthony Michaelides of
Flushing, New York during the Pan-Macedonian Conference
. The event took place Friday evening, May 30th at the Pan Macedonian Studies Center in Whitestone, New
York before an international audience of 300 persons.
The scholarship was presented by Nancy Biska, governor of the Pan Macedonian
District of Greater New York.
The scholar’s family is
from Thessaloniki,
Greece. He is
proud of his Macedonian roots. His grandfather was a decorated W.W. II
Macedonian war hero who was wounded in action fighting for the freedom of
Greece. He admires his Macedonian
heritage of sacrifice for one’s country. He is an honor student at St. John’s University. He is one of the co-editors of
the soon to be published “The Greek American Experience II” by Prof. Catherine
Tsounis sponsored through a grant by the PanMacedonian Studies Center and Senator Frank Padavan. He has
aided in the organization of the Feb. 21, 2008 John’s University
Greek Independence Day Program. His family members are active
member
