For Immediate Release

Message from S.A.E. U.S.A. Coordinator Theodore G. Spyropoulos for President-Elect Barack Obama The landslide election of Senator Barack Obama, the record-breaking participation in the election process by Americans, and the expression of penchant by the Europeans in this individual reflect the disposition of mankind for change in America and in the international forefront. Furthermore, it demonstrates worldwide that the United States of America takes pride in the Democratic process; the elections went smoothly, without complications, racial discrimination, proving the will of the American people and the demand for change. Congratulations to the President Elect of the U.S.A. I wish to express all my best wishes for success in all his efforts and endeavors as he assumes the Presidency, its responsibilities in this critical time, not only for the United States but also on a worldwide scale.

The success of this election and the victory of Barack Obama create anticipation for the entire world for positive results in the economy, peace prospect, justice, and respect for all humanity.

Barack Obama has expressed his clear positions on our national issues, creating expectations for positive developments to all Greeks abroad. Greek-Americans, having learned lessons from the past, will have to work with particular discretion. Furthermore it will be necessary to halt private and individualized or sporadic initiatives toward the new American governing party regarding Greek issues.

The time has come for Greek-Americans to turn the page and our efforts to appear concerted in our claims and the influence we exercise in centers of authority.  Any Greek governing party, on their part and expressing the will of the Hellenes should clearly inform us their consistent positions so that the conflicting messages toward the representatives of American government will cease.

As American citizens of Greek descent, we have great power S.A.E. of U.S.A. will soon initiate a meeting at the Greek Embassy in Washington, D.C. with the leaders of Greek-American organizations, so that united we may write new pages on Greek-American relations, for Hellenes of America and issues of Greek interests.

Let us hope that the optimism and expectations for a better tomorrow that come forth with the election of Barak Obama, will materialize and bring positive results.
