SAE USA Region: 4th of July messageAs American citizens of Greek decent, we embrace two countries, our homeland and the country which hosts us and has given us the opportunity to fulfill our hope for a better livelihood. This nation has not only given us the opportunity to succeed as individuals, but to thrive as an ethnic group, developing communities, churches, organizations, supportive of the propagation of the Greek language and culture on all educational levels. We hold a high esteem for the younger generations of Greek-Americans who have infiltrated and succeeded in all sectors of the American Community.

Tribulations, the economic crisis, and the challenges this nation and all nations face are our challenges as well. We are all a part of these changes and developments, and we contribute to their outcome. Along with these challenges emerge new opportunities and optimism for the development of new relationships with countries supportive of peace, friendship, justice, humanity, and democracy.  The failure of extreme materialism manifests the collapse of structural pillars within the global community. Yet, concurrently, the need emerges for the return to old values, and the building of a more humane world, one with a balance of spirit and matter.

As inheritors and bearers of our Greek heritage, of anthropocentric ideas and values of Hellenism, it is our obligation to play an active role in the development of a better future in the nation which we live in and in the global community.

Greece and the United States share the same ideas and values for freedom, independence, and democracy rooted in the Hellenic spirit.  They are consorted with common tribulations, have always been allies and share the same ideals.

With these thoughts, may we celebrate our national holiday, the 4th of July, Independence Day.  Let us honor our heritage, Greek and American, and Independence, sublime, supreme, priceless!
