RE: “Support Greece Fund” – Contributions

“We Can and Wish to Make a Difference…”

My Dear Compatriots,

The Presidium of the World Council of Hellenes and the Region of USA appeal to, and urge, all SAE members to participate in the campaign of “Support Greece Fund” created to help reduce Greece’s public debt.

Every one of us may send whatever sum he or she can afford or wish, or at least make a gesture by contributing $50 to the fund. If you do, please indicate that the donation is from “SAE USA Region” so that it is shown clearly as a contribution from the Greek American community.

Information on how and where to send your contribution:

  • Beneficiary: Fund to Support Greece (Ταμείο Στήριξης της Ελλάδας)
  • Bank: Bank of Greece (Τραπεζα της Ελλάδος)
  • Special Account Number 26132462.
  • IBAN: GR 04 010 0024 00000000261132462 & SWIFT/BIC: BNGRGRAA

Everyone may contribute at any time, by depositing the desired amount at any bank which will wire the funds free of charge. More information is available from the Agency of Public Organizations by calling Greece, +210 320 2716 and +210 320 3376.

The President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias, a generally respected and distinguished leader, has accepted a request by Parliament President Phillipos Petsalnikos to head the fundraising campaign. Participation of Greek Americans would express a special sentiment loaded with historic symbolism. Even a $50 contribution from each one of us will show our interest. Such a gesture from us will create a moral imperative and may well raise the hopes of our people and set an example.

With my best regards,

Theodore G. Spyropoulos
Coordinator SAE USA
