The recently announced Symposium on “Charter Schools: Accomplishments, Prospects, Growth Potential – 8 Years Later” has been postponed at the request of educators involved in new school year activities in the U.S. and Greece.
A new Symposium date will be announced this fall, it was announced by the organizers, the World Council of Hellenes (SAE / USA) and the Hellenic American National Council (HANC) with the cooperation of Greek American Charter School “Archimedean Academy” in Miami. The forthcoming announcement will provide dates and the place where the symposium will be held. The purpose of the Symposium is to review Hellenic Charter schools, to examine the future of such schools and the prospects for upgrading Hellenic subject matter in the U.S. Research has shown that Charter Schools have generally met the expectations of the Greek American community as they fill the learning gap on language, history and culture among both Greek and non-Greek students. Charter schools offer an alternative venue for teaching Greek in areas where the community and Greek organizations are unable to finance Greek language and culture programs. |
