My Dear Fellow Cretans and friends, The Pancretan Association of America stands in immediate support to our compatriots in Greece, the victims of the fires and their families. The picture of Greece in flames, the decimated forests, the burned villages, the unequal battle with the fires, the pain and suffering you can easily see smothered on each and every compatriot’s face, bring upon our indescribable grief. They cause sheer agony for the tremendous ecological catastrophe and the dire consequences that our motherland and its people we will have to face in the future, together with questions for the people who orchestrated this unspeakable scheme of arsons. The sheer magnitude of this catastrophe is simply unthinkable! Immediate response to this unprecedented disaster is our national duty. A duty that we have to share and contribute to, in any manner humanly possible according to our abilities and capabilities. We encourage and appeal to our Pancretan members & Chapters and every Greek- American and Philhellene, to contribute towards the fundraising initiative that the Pancretan Association has undertaken, for the financial aid of the fire-stricken victims and funding for reforestation of devastated areas. Our Motherland is in mourning! We are facing a National tragedy! Let us all unite our efforts. Let us respond to the appeal of the Greek Government and of our compatriots. Even the smallest contribution can make the difference. Please make your contributions payable to and send them to: “Pancretan Association – Fire Relief Fund”, Attn: Mrs. Erasmia Vlastos-Novotny 8530 Sharon Drive, White Lake, MI, 48386 Or deposit directly to the special Bank Account: Bank of America, Acct: # 08409-42718 Bank of America, 1331 Newport Ave., Tustin, California 92780 We have set a target, to raise the amount of $75,000 and I know that we can do it! When the current situation is appraised, we plan to cooperate with SAE/USA, HANC, the Church, and with the Greek Government to evaluate and publicize, how and to whom the financial aid will be sent. A full report will be issued and will be available for review. My Fellow Cretans and friends, Let us show our love and dedication to our Motherland. It is time to act now! We must assist in rebuilding whatever it was incinerated. It is our duty to the future generations. For the Pancretan Association of America, Emmanuel E. Velivasakis Roxanne Koston President Chair, Philanthropic Committee |
