Brief Biography
The lecturer, Dr. Anagnostis Agelarakis was born in Kavala, Greece, where he received his secondary education. He completed his baccalaureal degree in Archaeology, Biologic Anthropology and European Ethnology, as well as his Master Science degree in Environmental Studies at Lund University and Polytechnic Institute in Sweden. Further, he received his Master of Philosophy and Philosophy Doctoral degrees from Columbia University, in New York, specializing in Anthropological Archaeology, Human Ecology & Forensic Anthropology.
He taught at Lund University in Sweden, the University of Crete, Saint John’s University, New York Institute of Technology, and during the last fifteen years at Adelphi University.
Prof. Agelarakis is the first Hellene who holds a full professorship in
American academia in the field of Anthropological Archaeology and Physical Anthropology. Currently, he also serves as Director of the Environmental Studies Program of Adelphi University.
